From my visit to Iceland this summer. Weather was bad 8 out of 10 days, so for a photography trip, I didn't get as many candid shots as I hoped for, but as an experience it was absolutely amazing!

I absolutely live for Colorado's fall colors. I had not planned to shoot any this year since I live in Portland Oregon; however, I was able to tack on a nice day into the mountains of Colorado this past week and just had an absolute blast shooting in this aspen grove near the ghost town of St. Elmo near Mount Princeton.

Firstly, I started a Facebook Page so if you wanna follow me there, click here and click like.. Another landscape shot from my trip to Lofoten Islands in Norway and yet another shot from this nice spot in Lofoten. The photo is 99% as is, almost no post-processing. I have used an ND1000 filter combined with a Graduated ND filter on top. Previously I have added a similar shot and this time, this version is a much longer exposure, 3 minute-long. Palouse Falls Washington A fun scree scramble to get to the bottom of Palouse Falls where some incredibly vibrant foilage was growing at its base. Very interesting to see the falls from below where 99% of shots are from the cauldron above. As cool as the walk was, I liked the view from up top better lol.

Twelve full days of photography and a one hour doors-off helicopter flight over Sossusvlei for aerial photography. The best of all is that there will only be six participants, allowing maximum creative freedom. An afternoon thunderstorm passes over Dune 45 on a very hot and humid afternoon. One often needs to see and realise a certain aspect of a certain element in order to understand it's benefit. When you have partial cloud casting spots of shadow and light on the landscape, it can give amazing depth to the landscape. It usually requires a fair bit of patience in order for the right parts to be in light before you can shoot, but it's always worth the wait. This image is the intellectual property of Hougaard Malan. I have a bit of an obsession with Autumn. I'm particularly fond of October, when foliage really starts to put on its vibrant show. One of my favorite places to explore in October is Washington State's Eastern Cascade Foothills. This image is from a couple of years ago when the colors were at their peak near the Leavenworth area. I decided to be adventurous that day and take an unknown long, rough dirt road about 10 miles down until I came across this scene. The sound of a nearby stream was so serene. The trees were so vibrant and beautiful I had to just sit there in my car and stare out the window for a while. I hadn't seen Fall color like that since I was a teenager living in Ohio. It was really quite striking and reminded me of a painting. I longed to have the skill or materials to paint the view in front of me, but decided to do what I thought to be the second best option and took out my camera. This place to me defines October's lovely, cool, vibrant embrace and everything I love about it. A portrait version of an image I shared from the same area last year.
