All throughout the day in early July we experienced nothing but drab overcast skies over crater lake. I went out with my tripod, nevertheless, never giving up hope that the sun would somehow breakthrough. At sunset the sun dipped below a small opening in the clouds and small rain drops began falling from the sky. Then for a brief interlude of about 5 minutes the sun rays from a low angle illuminated both the clouds and the lake creating a beautiful orange sky with pink tones across the lake. Standing on a ledge above the lake I gazed up at the almost neon sky that seemed at that moment like the primary light source, also beautifully reflected in the great expanse of Crater Lake. It is at that moment I awoke from what felt like a lucid dream but was not and remembered to trip my camera's shutter and take this image! This photo was taken as a single raw image that I subsequently overexposed and underexposed by 1.5 stops in the Adobe Raw Developer to create three Tiff images. I then combined three layers to create a single blended exposure. Thanks for viewing my image. You can also follow my on Facebook at Erwin Buske Photography.
