The Mystic Pond,Hokkaido by KentShiraishi Add me http://ift.tt/1lNlcrl

This blue pond is Biei in Hokkaido,Japan. It snowed at the pond in the last ten days in October. I photographed in the early morning of the day. I was seeing the clear cold blue pond. I had the very holy and mystic impression. And I wanted to express that feeling. I took a picture while I made shutter speed late. After this, this pond freezes.

Sunrise at Convict Lake by NhtPhm Add me http://ift.tt/1lNlcrl

Convict Lake is one of the most visiting places in Eastern Sierra. I came here very early and there were a lot people there lining up for the sunrise shot! It took me awhile to look for a spot to shoot. Finally, I found this spot away from the crowd until they came over! I love the light on the snow-covered mountain and reflection! The foreground also added a nice element. Thanks for stopping by everyone! Have a great day/night! :) Photographed by: Nhut Pham Location: Convict Lake, CA Social Network: Nhut Pham Fine Art American | 500PX | Website | Flickr | Facebook Page

Emerald Lakes Tongariro National Park Two attempts on two dawns and one hour's visibility was all that was needed to convince me to return to this spot in the future for more hiking and photography. Only a few minutes prior, this scene was blanketed out in white. If only if had cleared perhaps a little sooner, there might have also been some colour in the sky to shoot that morning too but I was ecstatic just to have seen something.

Postludium.. by holofoten Add me http://ift.tt/1lNlcrl

My FB-page; Holofoten Photography This scenery is from Unstad, Lofoten. When I came to this location there where like a bunch of photographers here.., but when I shot this picture they had all left and I was all alone. They all missed the beautiful light that appears in the so called civil twilight. The church organ played beautiful for us all, but some of the congregation went too fast in my opinion. The organist just continued playing for a long time, there was really no reason to hurry.. This is from march this year, new post-processing in Lightroom. Hope you like it and have a really nice weekend;)!!

Headed to Padley Gorge in the Peak District National Park yesterday morning as I'm off work this week. Was pretty foggy, which was just what I wanted. Some lovely colour still around but a lot of the trees seem to have shed their leaves in the recent wind!

summer farm by RuneAskeland Add me http://ift.tt/1lNlcrl

Ramnefjell & Lovatnet, where once the villages of Nesdal and Bødal stood At midnight in mid-winter, January 15-16, 1905, a massive chunk of Ramnefjell - the mountain that towered over the hamlets of Nesdal and Bødal - fell into the lake beneath it, creating a colossal wave, some 130ft high. In Bødal, every farm was destroyed, and 27 villagers died. In Nesdal, all 34 inhabitants died. This is a very remote area, and the only access to Nesdal and Bødal was via a narrow winding path, which was buried by an avalanche the day after the disaster. One can only wonder how many of the few who survived the wall of water perished in the extreme cold before help could reach them. It being mid-winter, many of the local farmers were away at sea fishing, and returned weeks later to find their farms and families and neighbours had vanished. Nesdal and Bødal were rebuilt, with nine farms of Bødal being relocated to higher ground. Almost unbelievably, thirty one years later, at 5am on 13 September 1936, another huge chunk of Ramnefjell collapsed. This time, the tsunami was an almost unimaginable 250ft high - in Bødal, all nine farms that had been rebuilt on higher ground were swept away, along with 43 villagers. Nesdal lost 3 of its 7 farms, and 23 of its villagers. All arable land was washed away, leaving only bare rock and rubble. The villages were, finally, abandoned. Today, the scene is stunningly beautiful, and it is hard to imagine that, deep underneath it, lie buried two entire hamlets, along with their families and livestock.
