Today I woke in a snowy Yellowknife, Northwest Territories - my previous home of a decade - after leaving Prince Edward Island yesterday. I kicked off my three-week working road trip with a portrait session with a face I've photographed countless times over the year, the always-soulful Danielle Mager. I like photographing interesting people, and when I find a person I find interesting...I tend to photograph them again and again and again. It's my "comfort" place in photography - but it's also a personal challenge: can I take a subject and find something different in them, each and every time. Can I tell multiple stories of a single face? I love coming back north, and I feel as home here, still, as I do on my Prince Edward Island. When we think "The North", we think barren landscape and tough weather. But when I think of the North, I think of its people. PS - you may have noticed I don't post many faces here on this page anymore. I don't. But I'm still photographing many. I've broken up my FB presence to reflect my passions in photography: people and place. This, here, I know keep as my testimonial to the many great places I've had the opportunity to visit. I would love if you also followed my new page, Dave Brosha, which is now dedicated to nothing but faces.
