Pfersag Fall WE (winter edition) by tinobeyer Add me http://ift.tt/1lNlcrl

First of all I'm wishing all my followers, friends and visitors a happy new year 2015 and always good light. After a few days of constant snowing and low temperatures I headed out to my "house waterfall" once again to take some winter shots. Unlike my last visit, the creek was bearing less water which was very clear and therefore creating this silver shower and the transparent golden pool on the ground. The "Pfersag Waterfall" is declared a natural monument by the Bavarian ministry of the environment and is located at the edge of the forest between Burkersdorf and Ebneth. The fall is formed as a 3m high, free falling step recharged by a small creek with different springs. I post-processed the HDR image which was merged of three exposures (with a ND64 filter mounted: 8s for the water and highlight areas, 15s for the midtone areas, 60s for the shadows, especially the small cave area behind the waterfall) in Photoshop, mainly through adjustment layers. Furthermore I set a high pass filter for the icy areas and ran the detail enhancer action for the rocks. To drag the viewers eye to the main object I implemented an inclined ellipse and darkened the outside areas.
