
I was lucky to meet a lot of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) outside Tromsø in Norway, last weekend. In November it is only a very few hours of daylight, so it can be quite difficult to photograph. The humback whale is one of the larger rorqual species, adults range in length from 12–16 metres (39–52 ft) and weigh approximately 36,000 kilograms (79,000 lb)
