Western Promises by Pcoskun Add me http://ift.tt/1fqSViy

This is an image I photographed a few months back while revisiting some areas in Northern Arizona. This is one of the many classic scenes of the American west. The mittens of monument valley and Merrick butte as they rise into the skies. Upon arrival to Monument Valley, I had felt heavy gusts of wind as I drove closer and closer. By the time I got inside the park I had felt like I had wasted all this time getting here. The winds just picked up and blew sand all over the place. I took a handful of photos from this vantage and decided it was best to try and head back home. It was either the best or worst decision I could have made depending on how you look at it. As soon as I left the entrance road and got onto the main highway, the sand was blowing across the road and making it disappear on and off. This sandstorm lasted about three hours and had stretched as from cameron to monument valley. I was glad I finally got out of it, but it was definitely one of the scariest drives home. I was glad I made it back safe, but will never know what might have happened that evening here.
