Earlier in the evening... by everlookphotography Add me http://ift.tt/1fqSViy

Lake Mackenzie New Zealand The title of this refers back to this image which has always been a personal favourite of mine : http://ift.tt/18tfxdw It was taken at the end of a terrible day on the Routeburn track with torrential rain necessitating a bypass of Earland falls and many makeshift knee deep crossings along the usual path. Right as I was arriving at the hut, the weather cleared enough for this light to occur. The previously posted image had some photomatix elements and magenta hues which were actually part of the scene but some critical review mentioned about the scene being 'overdone' . I always found this ironic as in my mind, the actual scene was much more mind blowing than the image could ever portray. Anyway, that puzzlement has had me wondering if there would be less of that type of consensus if I processed an image slightly earlier from the evening when the light had yet to fade to its magenta hues. Interested in your thoughts - on facebook, most preferred the original but many preferred this version. If you were to ask me, the former wins out every time, but then again, I am heavily biased by my memory of the scene! [Deviant Art Gallery] [Facebook] [Web Gallery] [Flickr] [G+]
