O V E R T O N E by tpoulton001

O V E R T O N E by Timothy Poulton Panorama Photography Mt Cook New Zealand We set the alarm for 3am to make the journey through the Hooker Valley to Hooker Lake at the foot of Mt Cook, with no moon and only our headlamps to guide us we set off for the 2 hour walk. With the sound of avalanches and the power of the mighty Hooker River, for a small moment I felt like Sir Edmund Hillary. With first light approaching I claimed my ice formation and sat patiently to the sound of Kea birds for the sun to caress the clouds and do its magic, it all went silent and as I turned around I had an audience of birds either watching the show or an opportunistic moment to collect some memento. I've attempted this location several times and have been greeted with rain, cloud or fog and to finally tame the beast that is Mt Cook, I can move onto the next adventure.
