Lightning Strike on Mt. Woolsey, Grand Canyon by DonSmith1

My favorite image of 2013 was captured during the middle of a lightning storm along the north rim of The Grand Canyon this past August. Please click here to read more: My 12 Favorite Images Of 2013! In short, it was monsoon season in northern Arizona, and during a break between teaching two workshops, Gary Hart and I decided to go storm chasing and ended up at Imperial Point (8100 feet elevation). Two giant thunderstorm cells merged about three miles in front of us and this incredible sheet of rain pounded the canyon. I switched from my telephoto to a wider lens, and then saw this incredible bolt of lightning fire through the sheet of rain. Fortunately I had a Lighting Trigger attached to my camera and it captured the bolt. One simply incredible moment!
